The Best Affordable Mattress-In-A-Box on the Market
Over 2 and half years ago now, we decided it was unavoidably time for a new mattress. After suffering through a cheap (relatively, at $800!) mattress from a large retail store for just 6 years, we were finally fed up enough to look for a new bed. Enter the LUCID company.
We were getting poor sleep, and waking up in the mornings with sore backs consistently. If you’ve seen my post on tips to get better sleep, you know this should be one of the biggest priorities. So after doing some research, I came across a little miracle.

About the Lucid Mattress
This mattress has been hands down the MOST comfortable one I’ve ever slept on, and my husband also agrees! We generally prefer a mattress that is on the firmer side and this one delivers without being too firm. No one wants to sleep on a board after all.

The Layers of a Latex Hybrid Mattress
The particular one we have is this 10″ Latex Hybrid, which has a top layer of latex and memory foam that is injected with a cooling gel. Some memory foam tends to hold heat, which is a bad thing if you sleep hot like my husband, so the gel helps to negate that. We’ve noticed it doesn’t hold much heat at all which is fantastic.
Underneath the layers, also contributing to airflow, are the separately encased steel coils. These help with providing more support and minimize movement transfer too.
In addition there’s a layer of side support that’s supposed to help reduce the edges from sinking. I don’t really sleep on the edge of the bed so I can’t really comment on this, but I will say the overall sink of the bed is extremely minimal, so A++ there.

The Affordable Price of the LUCID Mattress
Just as important to us as the features of course is the price. It was in the $400 range for a king when we bought ours. This falls into the “too good to be true” category for me, so I was pretty skeptical.
On the one hand if we tried it out and it sucked, it’s not like we were in any worse of a position than before. But all the reviews said it was wonderful and the best deal for the money.
So we decided to give it a try. Plus they do have a 30-day money back guarantee. While not as long as many of the competitors, I still felt it was worth taking the chance.
The Bed In A Box Delivery
It shipped directly to our door within a couple days, in a box that was of manageable size. I found it impressive that they were still able to compress it and roll it into a small-ish box even though it has springs. Wonders of the modern world folks.
Once we opened it and laid it out, it began inflating on its own. The instructions said to let it fully inflate for 48 hours. My husband and I, being the rebels that we are (and more realistically due to poor planning) slept on it after just 12 hours and it was still amazing!
There also wasn’t really a noticeable smell, aside from the “new cotton” like that of new clothes.
Opinion: LUCID is the Best Affordable Hybrid Mattress Bed In A Box
We are super happy with this purchase and over two and a half years in we haven’t had a single complaint. It’s still extremely comfortable and firm. We see this lasting a us really long time, which I’d say is perfect when it comes to a mattress.
I’ve convinced no less than three of my closest friends to buy it too, and all of them have also loved it. So, if you’re in the market, consider giving this one a chance. You can find it on Amazon here:
