Last month was the first time I tried tracking this metric, so I was glad to see that I managed to keep from spending money for almost a third of the days in January. While it's not groundbreaking by any means, the first step is always learning where your starting line is. I'll continue to watch this metric this month to see how it goes. Of course, this means very little if I still end up spending more on the days that I do spend money, so I'll be watching that too. What do you think, is it worth it to pay attention to this number? .

Current progress 🚘 This is our last remaining consumer debt you guys! 🙌🙌 Okay, after this we do still have our mortgage and our rental property which I guess are technically also debts too but I tend to think of them differently. We've gone back and forth about whether or not to focus on paying those off next and (sorry Dave Ramsey!) we usually land on not. Eventually, yes, the goal is to own everything outright but right now with our mortgage interest rates being so low the money that we could pile into the house payment could instead be working harder for us elsewhere. But it seems like it's just been extra hard to make any plans for the future whatsoever right now anyway so who freaking knows. Anyone else feeling like that too? Ugh come on 2020 let's do better!

When your makeup brush breaks, but your frugal husband is ON IT! 🥰 Good as new

So I promised myself that the last time I ran out

So I promised myself that the last time I ran out of dryer sheets would be the last time I ran out of dryer sheets. I've felt like they are just another one of those endless costs that I was tired of having to keep buying. After searching around for a more reusable option, I've started using these cute little dryer buddies! I found this set on Amazon for about $10, and I have been so impressed! They're made from a durable plastic that's hard enough to make a difference in wrinkles yet they still have a little bit of give when you squeeze them. They also do a good job of keeping down the static cling which is at it's worst for us this time of the year. After about 90 loads so far, I'm imagining these will last for pretty much forever. And while the plastic isn't great for the environment, at least I won't be throwing away thousands of dryer sheets anymore. I do have to admit though, one major downside is that they are SUPER loud 🤦 you've been warned! Luckily for me that's not really a problem as I've found a workaround 🎧 haha!

That's it! I'm not usually one to use the word "never", but barring any major catastrophies or changes in mindset, I'm planning to NEVER pay interest on a car loan again! It feels pretty freeing ngl. In the future if I want/need a new car, I'm promising myself I'll pay for it upfront. This has been a huge shift in how my husband and I have thought about our finances over the years. It seems like such a small thing, like a normal part of life. But I swear the expenses really can start to creep up on you. And you don't even notice it. But seeing now how it affects so many things now that we're on the other side, we don't ever want to go back.
