Great Quality Inexpensive Products for Daily Face Washing
So, you already know you need to take care of your skin (right??). But, if you’re like most people you probably also don’t want to spend a fortune to do it.
Well I’ve got EXCELLENT news for you! Like with most things in life, it’s often the case that simple is better. You don’t need a bunch of fancy products to take care of your skin. That’s despite what almost every corporate marketer for those huge skin care brands will try to tell you.
I want to share with you this simple, frugal skin care routine that I use every day, in the hopes that it will help you when deciding what might work best for you.
*The inevitable disclaimer*: I am NOT an expert of any kind in skin-care. I’m just letting you know what I like and what works for me. This is in no way a post to give you medical advice or suggest you use something without thoroughly checking it out first.
A Simple and Inexpensive Skin Care Regimen
Starting off, I would be lying if I said I found these products myself. That honor goes to the awesome skin care guru named Hyram. He is so knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff.
Hyram, like me, also values not only the quality of products but their impact on the environment too. Which if you’ve seen some of my other posts, you’ll know that’s something I’m always looking to promote.
I have learned SO much from watching his videos, and if you would like to learn even more beyond these basics I highly suggest you go check out his youtube channel here. Thanks Hyram, you’re the best! Now on to the goods.
The Best Facial Products in Frugal Skin Care
Best Frugal Face Cleansers
Starting off with the makeup remover. While I don’t wear makeup everyday, when I do, this is the best way to take it off in my opinion. Micellar water acts as a gentle cleanser so you can even use it as your only face wash too if you want.
This one has no fragrance, which always makes it a better choice over one that does. Great for sensitive skin, it’s vegan and contains no alcohol. And as it’s currently less than $10 for a pretty large bottle, this is a perfect step one. Pick it up at the link below.
Okay I just need to fawn over these amazing things for a second. Of course they aren’t at all required for a frugal skin care routine. Yet I feel like they absolutely belong on this list.
Not only are these way bigger than I expected AND you get many more than you would ever need at one time, but they also come in this fantastic mesh bag for the washing machine. The real value here is that the mesh bag can double as a laundry pouch for washing delicates. What’s that? An item that is inexpensive, reusable, and multi-purpose? You had me at hello.
Again, not necessary, but these go along with the makeup removing cleanser. Because while you *could* attempt to wipe the makeup away with your hands, it probably won’t go very well. I’ve definitely never tried that before and am totally not at all speaking from experience here.
Anyway these inexpensive wipes will do a much better job and they are amazing for all the reasons mentioned above. Not bad for under $10, I’d say. Here’s to no more cotton balls, swabs, or wipes – a frugal and eco-friendly win! You can find a very close match below:
If you don’t need to take off any makeup, then just head straight for a cleanser. I use this one with salicylic acid because I still get occasional breakouts and this helps to keep them in check.
If you are prone to more dry skin and/or don’t have to worry about acne go for this CeraVe cleanser instead:
CeraVe is a great brand often recommended by dermatologists because they use quality ingredients at a super affordable price. This one below is the one I’m using is always around the $12 mark.

Optional Not Very Frugal Skin Care Product
So this one is not required, but in the interest of full transparency it’s something that I’ve been trying out daily for a few months. I’m hoping that it will help clear up any old blemish marks and smooth out all-over skin tone.
It’s currently the only FDA approved prescription strength over the counter retinoid, and has also been shown to reduce the signs of aging. Since I’m now in that over-30 category I decided it’s probably time to start adding something like this to my skin-care routine.
At $13 for a 30-day supply I wouldn’t exactly put this one in the “frugal” category, but sometimes I allow my vanity to win out over that. And no judgement here if you decide to do that too!
It says it can take up to 3 months before seeing a real change, so I’m going to give it at least until then and re-evaluate. Get it from Amazon at this link below.

Best Frugal Face Moisturizers
Any skin care routine must include moisturizer. Because after we’ve cleaned and de-moisturized everything it’s now time to re-hydrate. I’m using this basic evening face lotion, again from CeraVe for reasons listed above. At about $12, it’s awesome and cheap. Just my type. Find it at the link below.
Now, I promise I’m not sponsored by CeraVe, but I just really like their products! Even though it’s last on my list here, this daily moisturizer is exactly what is needed to start the day.
Mainly because it combines the moisturizer with a sunscreen which you should always wear when going outside because the sun does more damage to your skin than anything else. Also, if you’re like me and using a retinol, this makes you even more susceptible to sun damage so you definitely cant go without it. Plus it’s also only around $12. You can grab it here:
Frugal Living Beauty Products Review
And that’s it for my frugal skin care routine. Altogether the cost is under $50 for products that will last me at least 4 months (with the exception of the optional Differin Gel).
Compared to most products in the beauty world, this is really a steal. But when you are thinking about frugal living, it always comes down to which areas of life are most important to you and where you are willing to compromise between saving money and being comfortable.
Side note: I’ve also heard great things about The Ordinary as another good-quality inexpensive brand. I haven’t had the chance to try them out yet. But if you have l’d love to hear about your experience in the comments! Let me know, and thanks for reading!
